🌸 Garden District & Uptown
Where you stay in New Orleans shapes your trip — the French Quarter puts you steps from Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the French Market, the CBD and Warehouse District are the walk to the Convention Center and the National WWII Museum, and the Garden District and Uptown put you on the streetcar line near St. Charles Avenue’s mansions and Magazine Street’s shops. We checked each property directly against its own official site rather than a generic aggregator list, and confirmed several closures and rebrands along the way.

Planning Tips for This Area
- The French Quarter puts you closest to the action. Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the French Market are all walkable from French Quarter hotels — but expect more noise, especially on weekends.
- The CBD and Warehouse District suit a Convention Center trip. Several hotels there are within walking distance of both the Convention Center and the National WWII Museum.
- The Garden District and Uptown are quieter. St. Charles Avenue’s streetcar line connects these B&Bs and boutique hotels straight into downtown and the Quarter.
- Some well-known hotels have recently closed, rebranded, or are mid-renovation. We verify current operating status on every listing — a few properties you may recognize from older guides (the W French Quarter, the Ace Hotel, the Cornstalk Hotel) are either renamed or no longer bookable, and are noted or excluded accordingly.
Should I stay in the French Quarter or the CBD?
The French Quarter puts you closest to Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the French Market; the CBD/Warehouse District is a better base if the Convention Center or the National WWII Museum is the focus of your trip, and tends to be quieter at night.
Is the W New Orleans – French Quarter still open?
Not under that name — the property closed and rebranded in January 2025 to Hotel De La Poste, a Renaissance Hotel, under Sage Hospitality management.
How does NME choose which properties to feature?
We verify each hotel directly against its own official site and current operating status rather than relying on aggregator lists, and we exclude anything we can’t confirm is still open. Read more on our methodology page.
